Gretna Green, a small scottish village in
the south of Scotland became popular
for "runaway marriages" in 1753, when
English Parliament passed an act that
stated that if both parties to the marriage
were not 21 years of age, parental consent
was required. Since Scotland had no such
requirement, many couples fled England for
the first scottish village they encountered,
Gretna Green. Today, couples in love who want
to avoid the pomp and circumstance of a
formal wedding still travel to Gretna Green,
where over 5000 weddings a year are
performed.
For couples like these, we have
created the perfect elopement package.:
The Gretna Green.
